Experimental Audio Research, a loose collective of experimental musicians, was formed in Italy around 1990. Led by Peter Kember, also known as Sonic Boom, formerly of Spacemen 3, the group created instrumental music characterized by lengthy, droning textures and slowly evolving structures. The group's debut album Mesmerised was released in 1994. Subsequent releases include "Delta 6" (1995), "Falling/Tail Chaser" (1995), and Phenomena 256 (1996). Notable collaborations included works with Delia Derbyshire and Thomas Köner. The collective released several albums under various labels, including Beyond the Pale on Big Cat in 1996, Millennium Music - A Meta-Musical Portrait on Atavistic Records in 1997, and Pestrepeller on in 1999.
