Tsuneo Fukuhara, born 14 November 1932 in Osaka, Japan, was a Japanese composer and producer who grew up in Okinawa and studied classical music at Osaka College of Music. He debuted in 1961, quickly gaining attention for his fusion of Okinawan folk with classical, rhythm & blues, and bossa nova elements, and created a style later termed "Fukuhara melodies". His 1965 single "Bashofu" became a staple recorded by artists such as Rimi Natsukawa and Tokiko Kato, and he went on to compose over 500 songs. Notable releases include the 2006 album 芭蕉布～普久原恒勇作品集～, the 2007 compilation 昭和戦前・戦後 黄金期の名人が甦る 沖縄民謡大全集, and 普久原メロディー (2011). Fukuhara received a lifetime JASRAC Music Culture Award in 2018, and he passed away on 1 November 2022.
