The German rapper Ali As, known as Ali A$ until 2013, was born Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhry in Munich on July 15, 1979. He began rapping at the age of fifteen and was then part of the groups Artzone, Buff-A-Lot & Passt Shawn and Monaco Lightz, among others. As Ali A$, the rapper initially released the mixtapes A$talavista, Baby! and Ich bin ein Star, holt mich hier raus! before being signed to the music label Deluxe Records by Samy Deluxe in 2006. His debut album was finally released in 2008 under the title Bombe and contained guest contributions from Emory and Samy Deluxe. After being a member of the crossover band Kellerkommando from 2011 to 2013, the Munich native released his second solo album Amnesia on January 9, 2015, which entered the German album charts at number 17. His third solo album Euphoria reached number 6 in 2016, and the single "Lass sie tanzen (Square Dance)" with Namika was awarded a gold record. While Insomnia, Ali As' fourth solo album, reached number 10 in the German charts in 2017, the collabo album Mohamed Ali with MoTrip reached number 43 in the German charts in 2018. Ali As' fifth solo album, Dali (number 36), was released on October 9, 2020.
