Capsicum Red was an Italian progressive rock band formed in 1970, featuring guitarist and vocalist Red Canzian. The group's name was chosen by producer Pino Massara when he discovered Canzian as part of I Prototipi and signed him to the Bla Bla label. Their first single, "Ocean", released in 1971, became a success due to its international appeal and was used as the theme song for an Italian television show. This was followed by another single, "Tarzan" (1971). In 1972, after a lineup change, Capsicum Red released their only album, Appunti Per Un'Idea Fissa, which showcased progressive rock with symphonic influences. The band disbanded in 1973 without achieving significant commercial success. Post-breakup, the album was reissued on CD in 1991 and 1995, and again on vinyl in 2008, highlighting their enduring influence within the Italian progressive rock scene.
