Gareth Davis is a British clarinetist and bass clarinetist born in 1979 in London. He studied with the musicians Antony Pay and Roger Heaton in London and subsequently with Harry Sparnaay in Amsterdam. Davis received a scholarship to study chamber music at the Accademia Chigiana di Siena. During his career, he has performed as a soloist and member of ensembles including the London Sinfonietta, the Asko/Schönberg Ensemble and Sinfonia 21. His repertoire is associated with contemporary classical music and includes works written for him by composers such as Salvatore Sciarrino, Toshio Hosokawa and Helmut Lachenmann. Davis has performed at international festivals including the Holland Festival, Ultima Oslo and the Biennale di Venezia. His recording history included the studio albums Rabbit at the Airport III (2008), A Still Thin Sound (2009), Mere (2012) and Broken Landscapes (2020). He also issued the recordings Standards (of Sorts) (2022) and Songlines (2025). He currently resides in Amsterdam.
