Continental Drifters is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1991. The initial lineup included Carlo Nuccio on drums and vocals, Ray Ganucheau on guitars and banjo, Mark Walton on bass, Gary Eaton on guitars, and Danny McGough on keyboards. They began performing regularly at Raji's in LA, with Susan Cowsill and Vicki Peterson occasionally joining on backing vocals and guitars. The band moved to New Orleans in 1993/1994, releasing their first official album, Continental Drifters, in 1994. Nuccio left after the tour, and Russ Broussard joined for subsequent albums Vermilion (1998) and Better Day (2001). In 2015, Omnivore Recordings issued a double album retrospective called Drifted: In the Beginning & Beyond. Founding member Carlo Nuccio died on August 24, 2022. A book about the band and a tribute album, We Are All Drifters: A Tribute to the Continental Drifters, were released in 2024.
