Sparrow and the Workshop, an indie three-piece formed in Glasgow in 2008, consisted of Jill O'Sullivan (vocals, acoustic guitar), Nick Packer (guitar, bass), and Gregor Donaldson (drums, vocals). The trio quickly gained attention from Distiller Records, who released their EP, Sleight Of Hand, and single "Devil Song" in 2009. Their first full-length album, Crystals Fall, was released in 2010 to critical acclaim, earning high ratings from Drowned in Sound and Clash Magazine. The band toured extensively, supporting acts such as British Sea Power, Idlewild, and Brian Jonestown Massacre. In 2011, they released their second album, Spitting Daggers, produced by Leo Abrahams. Their third album, Murderopolis, was released in 2013. Following the release of Murderopolis, Sparrow and the Workshop took a break. O'Sullivan went on to form several new projects, including Jill Lorean and Three Queens in Mourning.
