Vomit the Soul, an Italian brutal death metal band from Lecco, was founded in 1999 by guitarist and singer Massimo "Max" Santarelli, drummer Maurizio "Ycio" Orsanigo, and bassist Daniele "Denny" Brumana. They began their career with local performances and released their first live album Hellish Live in 2000. In 2003, the band released their debut EP Human Insanity, followed by the demo Cuntless Promo 2004 (2004). Their breakthrough came in 2005 with the release of Portraits of Inhuman Abominations under Comatose Music, which was followed by performances at notable festivals such as Ludwigshafen Deathfest and Neurotic Deathfest. The band continued to tour extensively, sharing stages with acts like Arsebreed and Napalm Death. In 2009, they released Apostles of Inexpression through Unique Leader Records. Despite their success, Vomit the Soul disbanded in 2011.
