Rabenschrey, a German band from Wuppertal, was founded in 2000 by Peter Wohlers, also known as Donar von Rabenschrey, and Sean O'Connor. The group initially focused on classical music, folk music, pop music and rock music, with lutes and drums forming the core instrumentation. Their debut album Der verwunschene Eichenwald was released in 2001. In 2008, Rabenschrey incorporated electric guitars, bass, and drums into their sound, transitioning to a heavier metal-influenced style they termed "netalalter." The band performed at various festivals including the Wave-Gotik-Treffen (2006), M’era Luna Festival (2008, 2010), Wacken Open Air (2009, 2011, 2013). Notable albums also include Heidenspass und böse Zungen (2004) and Exzessivus (2010). In January 2014, Rabenschrey announced a hiatus from performing. The band's last concert was at the Veldensteiner Festival in July 2014 but returned to activity for their 25th anniversary in 2025.
