Alfred Dubois, born on November 17, 1898 in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Belgium, was a violinist and music teacher. He began his musical training at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in 1910, winning first prize in violin three years later. In 1920, he received the Henry Vieuxtemps Prize and performed at the Defauw Concerts and the Stockholm Philharmonic Concerts. Dubois formed a duo with pianist Marcel Maas, recording sonatas by Jean-Sébastien Bach, César Franck, Claude Debussy, and Ludwig van Beethoven for Columbia Records. He began teaching at the Brussels Conservatory in 1927. Dubois toured the USA between 1938 and 1939 but his international career was interrupted by World War II. During the war, he was the first violin of the Artis Quartet. He passed away on March 24, 1949.
