Mohamed Athuman Mwasengeza (better known as RapKeed) is a Kenyan rapper and songwriter from Diani, Ukunda. He first started music late in 2013 while he was still in high school. But he officially started recording in mid-2014. He was featured by Dice Gang on a track titled ‘Only One’ the first song he ever recorded. Afterward, he started doing solo projects. He did freestyle (95-sec time bomb freestyle).
He got back to the Dice gang and it was a journey. Rapkeed works both with the group and on his solo projects like Slow Down, Never Lose, and many more that are yet to be released. Known for his storytelling, imagery, wordplay, passion, and varied song structures, RapKeed brings hard-hitting lyricism with narratives to the Coast, not traditionally known for its lyricists.
In October the Coastal-based rapper released his second single “Motivation” featuring Ray Lucelif. The track came after the release of “Never Lose” in July.
Motivation, produced by Sharasha at Blue-Star records is about believing in yourself and keeping that focus.
On 2 November 2018, Rapkeed made a return with a Pro Baindo produced track titled “Slowdown”. The track was the latest single slated to appear on his highly anticipated Test Run EP. The track comes a month after the release of Motivation featuring Lucelif. In “Slowdown” the Diani native reflects on his journey and experience as an up and coming rapper. “You get told you can’t do it because you move differently.”
