Sophie Jamieson is a London-based singer-songwriter renowned for her intimate and candid songwriting, which delves into themes of mental health, loneliness, and personal growth. Her evocative lyrics and emotive performances have garnered critical acclaim, establishing her as a distinctive voice in the contemporary folk and indie music scenes. Throughout her career, Jamieson has supported artists such as Father John Misty, Ezra Furman, and Marika Hackman, earning a reputation for her deeply personal and intense live performances. Born in the early 1990s, she began writing songs at the age of nine. She was part of the London new-folk scene in 2012, releasing her first EP, Where, to critical acclaim. However, a challenging recording experience and a personal breakdown led her to step away from music for several years, during which she trained as a cocktail bartender. Despite these setbacks, her passion for music reignited in 2019, leading to the release of two EPs, Hammer and Release, which explore themes of depression, coping mechanisms, and isolation. In 2022, she released her debut album, Choosing, via Bella Union. The album received widespread critical acclaim for its candid examination of the self-destructive urge, with high praise from publications such as Uncut, Mojo, and The Financial Times. Her second album, I still want to share, was released in January 2025 via Bella Union.
