Pooka was a British songwriting duo formed by guitarists/vocalists Sharon Lewis and Natasha Jones in 1992 at Nottingham Polytechnic. After moving to London, they secured a five-album recording contract with WEA and released their self-titled debut album in 1993. They subsequently toured with artists including Everything But the Girl, Tindersticks, Kristin Hersh, Al Stewart, and the Levellers. They released Spinning in 1997 and the EP Monday Mourning in 1999. The duo also collaborated with Ultramarine and Orbital, co-writing and contributing to several recordings. Their albums, Fools Give Birth to Angels and Shift, were released in 2001. The duo later ended their ten-year musical partnership, with both Lewis and Jones continuing their careers as solo artists.
