Guido Balestracci was born in 1971 in Turin, Italy, and is an Italian gambist. He discovered the instrument at age five and studied at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, collaborating with Paolo Pandolfo and Jordi Savall. In 1997, he founded Ensemble L’Amoroso and recorded works such as Consonanze Stravaganti and a Seconde Stravaganze. His discography includes Corelli's Viol Sonatas (2002)and Schubert's Arpeggione (2020). He has earned Diapason d’or, Prix Goldberg, and Choc du Monde de la Musique, and teaches viola da gamba and 18th‑century ornamentation at HEM Geneva and CRR Paris.
