Potliquor were an American Southern rock ensemble from Baton Rouge, Louisiana active between 1969 and 1979. The group was established by the musicians George Ratzlaff and Guy Schaeffer and included Jerry Amoroso and Les Wallace. They achieved professional recognition for their performance at the New Orleans Pop Festival (1969). Their recording career began with the debut studio recording First Taste (1970). Their discography includes the studio recordings Levee Blues (1971) and Louisiana Rock & Roll (1973). They achieved professional recognition for the track "Cheer" (1972) which reached number 65 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their discography includes the tracks "Riverboat" (1971), "Down the River Boogie" (1971), and "Waitin' for Me at the River" (1973). During the early 1970s the ensemble headlined performances featuring opening acts including ZZ Top, Aerosmith, and Billy Joel. They achieved professional recognition for being the only ensemble booked to perform at the Fillmore West (1971) before its closure. Their discography includes the studio recording Potliquor (1979). The ensemble became inactive in 1979.
