Bauchklang, a vocal groove project from Austria, was formed in 1996 by six musicians following a school musical production of Jesus Christ Superstar. The band transitioned to five members and gained recognition for their unique sound, which combines elements of hip-hop, reggae, trance, techno, drum and bass, and ambient music, all produced solely through vocal techniques. The group released their debut album Jamzero in 2001. They won two Amadeus Awards in 2002 for "Best Album" and as "FM4 Alternative Act." Following this success, Bauchklang embarked on international tours, performing at festivals such as Trans Musicales in Rennes, France, and the Montreal Jazz Festival in Canada. Their second album, Many People, was released in 2005. In 2013, Alexander Böck left the band, after which the band went on a hiatus. They returned in 2016 to perform at the Vienna Danube Island Festival.
