Ohashi Takuya, born on 9 May 1978 in Tokai, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, is a J-pop singer-songwriter best known as the vocalist and guitarist of the duo Sukima Switch, which he formed with Shindo Shintaro in 1999. He made his major debut with Sukima Switch in 2003, and in 2008 he launched a solo project under the name Ohashi Takuya with Drunk Monkeys, releasing the solo debut single "Hajimari no Uta" on 6 February, followed by "Arigatou" on 2 April and "Sky"on 11 June. His debut solo studio album, Drunk Monkeys, followed on 2 July 2008, supporting a national tour later that year. Ohashi has gone on to collaborate with numerous contemporary Japanese artists and has contributed vocals, songwriting, and arrangement work across a range of projects. In recognition of his work, he received the Arrangement Award at the 61st Japan Record Awards in 2019 and a Gold Medal at the NexTone Award in 2020, both shared with his Sukima Switch bandmate Shindo Shintaro. His discography and ongoing collaborations reflect a steady, decades-long presence in the Japanese pop music scene.
