Hajime Mizoguchi, born on April 23, 1960 in Tokyo, Japan, is a Japanese cellist, composer, arranger, and music producer. He began playing the piano at the age of three and switched to cello at 11, later studying at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. After a serious traffic accident at 24, he turned to composition. His debut album, Halfinch Dessert (1986), credited him as composer, arranger and producer, and he followed with a steady stream of releases including Oasis – Behind The Clear Waters (1986), A Pretty Dance (1987), and Best Wishes (1988). Throughout the 1990s he composed soundtracks for films such as Please Save My Earth (1994) and Jin‑Roh: The Wolf Brigade (2000), collaborating frequently with Yōko Kanno. In the 2000s he expanded into anime, scoring Tokimeki Memorial Only Love (2006) and Jyu‑Oh‑Sei (2006).
