Gaitán Castro was a Peruvian duo consisting of brothers Rodolfo and Diosdado Gaitán Castro, formed in 1987 in Huamanga, Ayacucho. The duo began their musical journey while studying at the Universidad Nacional San Cristóbal de Huamanga, performing their first concert in 1989. Their breakthrough came in 1991 with their debut album Elegía, followed by Desde las Entrañas del Fuego in 1992. The duo gained international recognition through performances in Paraguay in 1991, and in Bolivia representing Peru at the Second International Culture Festival in 1992, where they won two gold medals. Gaitán Castro achieved significant milestones such as filling the Eduardo Dibós Coliseum in San Borja in 1994. They released several albums, including Amor, amor (1994) and Réquiem Para Un Amor (1995). The duo disbanded in 2000 due to personal reasons but reunited for occasional collaborations.
