2nd Grade

2nd Grade is an American indie rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, formed in 2018 as a solo project by musician Peter Gill. The project expanded into a full band featuring Catherine Dwyer, David Settle, and Francis Lyons. Their music has been compared to that of Guided by Voices. Gill initially released the demo Wish You Were Here Tour in 2018, before expanding the project with members of Friendship and Remember Sports. The resulting lineup released the debut album Hit to Hit through Double Double Whammy in 2021; it was named Stereogum’s “Album of the Week.” Their second album, Easy Listening, followed in 2022. In 2024, 2nd Grade released Scheduled Explosions, a home-recorded album made with engineer Lucas Knapp.
