James Sobers (born May 13, 1974), known professionally as BluRum13, was an American underground hip-hop rapper, actor, and producer from New York City. Sobers spent his formative years in Washington, D.C., and is the great-nephew of cricketer Sir Garfield Sobers. Using the pseudonym Killa Platypus, he was a member of the funk band Bullfrog between 1994 and 2004. His debut album, The Previouslee Unreleased Recordings of BluRum13, led to collaborations with DJ Vadim, including the song “It’s Obvious”. Sobers released the solo album Vaguely Familiar (2001) and collaborated with Luke Vibert on Smell the Urgency (2004) and Sense the Urgency (2019). In 2005, he formed the group One Self, releasing Children of Possibility. He later released the EP Tether (2007) and founded the group Indigenous Invaders in 2012. Sobers appeared in the film The Price of Death (2016) and released the album Hypersonic in 2023.
