Witherscape is a Swedish progressive death metal band formed in 2012 by Dan Swanö and Ragnar Widerberg. Swanö previously played with bands such as Nightingale, Edge of Sanity, Bloodbath, Moontower, and Pan.Thy.Monium, also serving as a producer for notable acts like Opeth, Dissection, Katatonia, and Asphyx. Swanö and Widerberg recorded their debut album The Inheritance (2013) at Swanö's Unisound Studio, with the release delayed until 2013 due to extensive post-production work. This concept album, featuring lyrics by Paul Kuhr of Novembers Doom, marked Witherscape’s entry into the metal scene. In 2014, their lineup released a first EP The New Tomorrow (2014), followed by another full-length album The Northern Sanctuary (2016). Both albums were released under Century Media Records.
