Markus Endörfer, known professionally as Amar, was born in 1983 in Mediaș, Romania, and moved to Germany with his parents in 1990. After leaving school, he pursued a rap career and was signed by Kool Savas’s Optik Records, where he released the Cho! Here habt ihr euer Mixtape in 2007, earning the Hiphop.de Award for Best German Mixtape of the Year. Following Optik’s closure, Amar faced legal troubles and a brief imprisonment in 2013, yet his debut studio album Amargeddon 2010 dropped in 2014 under Major Movez, reaching number 51 in the German charts and featuring collaborations with Kool Savas, Ercandize, and others. His second album, Erst Straße dann Rap, was issued in 2018 and peaked at number 100 in Germany.
