Red Apollo was a German post-metal group from Dortmund formed in 2011. The band began as a solo project by guitarist Björn Döhmann in 2006 before expanding into a full group. Their early recordings included the demo EP Like the Cry of a Bird of Prey (2011) and the demo EP Quiet as Death (2011). Red Apollo released the debut album Marche Funèbre (2012), followed by the album Altruist (2015). Their recordings include the split EPs Gottesmorder (2013), Sundowning (2013), and Withers (2014). The group also released the album The Laurels of Serenity (2018) and the single “Meta” (2017). Their music, which explored themes of pathological fears, combined elements of black metal, hardcore, and crust. Red Apollo disbanded in 2019.
