Louisa Mark was a British lovers rock singer born on January 11, 1960, in London, England. She began her musical career at age 13, performing with Dennis Bovell's Sufferer sound system and later at the Metro club. Her breakthrough came in 1974 when she won ten consecutive weeks at Star Search, leading to her first single "Caught You in a Lie" (1975), which sold 10,000 copies in its first week and was considered the first lovers rock song. Mark released several notable singles including "All My Loving" (1975), "Keep It Like It Is" (1977), "Even Though You're Gone" (1978), and "Six Sixth Street" (1978). She won the Artist of the Year award at the British Reggae Awards in 1978. In 1981, Mark released her debut album Breakout. After moving to Gambia in the mid-2000s, she passed away on October 17, 2009.
