Milton Carlos Muniz Guedes, professionally known as Milton Guedes, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Brazil on June 4, 1963. After learning the recorder in the choral group Mirim del Sesi and teaching himself the harmonica, he formed the band Pôr do Sol at eighteen years of age. In 1986, he was discovered by Oswaldo Montenegro, who invited him to Rio de Janeiro to rehearse the musical play Os Menestréis, where his whistle contribution to the song “Engarrafamento (Taxímetro)” brought him wider recognition. Guedes subsequently joined Lulu Santos's backing band in 1988, touring with him for ten years, before departing in 1997 to focus on his solo career. His solo discography consists of his self-titled albums released in 1993 and 1997, followed by Cinema in 2001, and Certas Coisas in 2007. Renowned as one of Brazil's finest whistlers, his recordings have been featured on numerous television soundtracks, including his cover of “Você vai lembrar de mim” for the telenovela Ti Ti Ti. Guedes also co-founded the band SoulFunk in 2004, and collaborated with prominent Brazilian acts including Sandy & Junior, Roupa Nova, and Elza Soares.
