Win, a Scottish pop group active between 1983 and 1990, emerged from the dissolution of The Fire Engines when Davy Henderson assembled a new line‑up that included drummer and keyboardist Ian Stoddart and former Fire Engine member Russell Burn on keyboards; the ensemble added guitarist and backing vocalist Emmanuel “Mani” Shoniwa, guitarist Simon Smeeton, keyboardist Karl Mariner, and, later, Willie Perry. Their first single, "Unamerican Broadcasting", was released in 1985 through Swamplands, followed by the track "You've Got the Power", which was used in a McEwan's lager advertising campaign and entered the UK Singles Chart at number 95 in 1986. The group released their debut album Uh! Tears Baby in 1987, reaching number 51 on the UK Albums Chart, and followed with Freaky Trigger in 1989; the single "Super Popoid Groove" peaked at number 63 in 1987. Win disbanded in 1990. Post‑disbandment, members pursued varied projects: Henderson played with The Nectarine No. 9, Stoddart joined Aberfeldy and later died in June 2020, while Perry and Shoniwa continued with new bands.
