Alexey Fyodorovich Vishnya is a Soviet and Russian singer, songwriter, poet, record producer, and sound engineer who was born in Leningrad, Soviet Union, on September 18, 1964. He developed an early passion for music through his parents' extensive collection of Latin American vinyl records, which they brought back from working abroad. In 1980, Vishnya began studying acoustics and sound recording in a class taught by Andrei Tropillo, under whose guidance he assisted in recording Kino's debut studio album, 45. By 1984, he established his own home recording studio, Yanshiva Shela, where he recorded numerous prominent Leningrad rock bands for free. As a sound engineer, his extensive production credits include Kino's studio albums Eto ne lyubov... (1985) and Gruppa krovi (1988), Alexander Bashlachev's acoustic album Tretya Stolitsa (1985), and the band Coffee's albums Balet (1984) and Balans (1986). Vishnya launched his solo recording career with Posledniy albom in 1984. He followed with his second studio album, Serdtse, in 1987. In 1988, he collaborated with Sergey Jarikov on the band DK's album Neprestupnaya zabyvchivost, providing the primary countertenor vocals and gaining status as an unofficial member of the group. He subsequently toured the country with a solo program, releasing his third studio album, Tantsy na bitom stekle, in 1989. His subsequent solo releases include the albums Illyuzii (1992), Son moryaka (1994), and Krovavyy shchelkunchik (recorded in 1996 and digitally released in 2026). In 2003, he released the political parody single “Viagra dlya Putina” under his Polittechno project. In April 2024, he was fined by a Saint Petersburg court under administrative charges related to the online promotion of illegal substances.
