Samira Tawfik, born Samira Ghastin Karimona on December 25, 1935, in Umm Hartein, Syria, is a Lebanese singer and actress. She grew up in the Medawar district of Beirut. In 1957, Tawfik began her musical career when she was chosen by the Jordanian government to promote national unity through Bedouin dialect songs. Throughout her career, Tawfik released numerous albums including Anin El-Noura and اودعتنا يا شهرنا = Awdatana Ya Chahrana. She performed internationally, including a concert in Detroit in the early 1970s. In 2017, she received an honorary decoration from King Abdullah II of Jordan for her contributions to music.
