Everything is an American alternative rock band that formed in 1989 when students at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, assembled under the name Everything. The group began touring full‑time in 1992, performing several hundred shows a year across the Mid‑Atlantic before expanding nationally; their early releases-including the Play EP (1991), Solid (1992), and Labrador (1994)-were issued independently and collectively sold close to 30,000 copies. In 1995 Everything signed a short, ill‑fated deal with Capricorn Records, but larger exposure came in 1998 when the indie label Blackbird financed the recording of Super Natural, which also received promotion through a joint venture with Sire / London. The single "Hooch" from that album peaked at number 69 on the Billboard Hot 100, performed better on the Hot Adult Contemporary and Modern Rock charts, and was featured in the 1998 film The Waterboy, cementing the band’s brief moment of mainstream visibility. Subsequent releases included People Are Moving (2001) through a co‑distribution deal with What Are Records?, and a long‑delayed In the Juju Underworld (2006) after a 2004 reunion; the group also toured internationally in Japan and Korea. Their catalog remains a snapshot of late‑1990s alternative rock, with "Hooch" continuing to appear in television soundtracks such as My Name Is Earl, Raising Hope, and the first season of Scrubs.
