Martin Breinschmid, born on April 26, 1970, in Vienna, Austria, is a percussionist known for his work in jazz and classical music. He graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 1988 and became a member of the Orchestra of the United Stages of Vienna, playing for musicals like Cats and The Phantom of the Opera. Breinschmid has collaborated with conductors such as Claudio Abbado and Zubin Mehta, and performed with orchestras including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vienna Mozart Orchestra. In jazz, he leads his own quartet and has played with former US President Bill Clinton. His discography includes On the Swing Shift (1999) with The Radio Kings, featuring collaborations with Pete York and Rossano Sportiello and Get Together in 2009 with Frank Roberscheuten and Sportiello.
