Claire de Brunner, born in the United States around 1960, is an American jazz bassoonist and improviser. De Brunner began playing bassoon at 14 years of age and studied at the Dalcroze School of Music, the High School of Music and Art, the North Carolina School of the Arts, and the Manhattan School of Music under Stephen Maxym. In the 1980s, she joined the New York Downtown scene, co-founding the post-punk group 101 Crustaceans, which released One Hundred One Crustaceans in 1991, and performing with Church of Betty. In the early 1990s, she studied jazz improvisation under Lee Konitz and Connie Crothers, becoming active in the New York free jazz scene alongside musicians including Daniel Carter, Matt Lavelle, and Ras Moshe. In 2010, she released the collaborative album Macroscopia as part of the group Macroscopia, followed by Poetry from the Future alongside To Be Continued in 2017.
