Siissisoq, a Greenlandic heavy metal band formed in 1994 in Uummannaq, was known for their unique blend of hard rock and jazz metal. The band's name translates to "Rhino" in Greenlandic, and their lyrics were predominantly sung in the same language. Siissisoq gained initial traction with their debut album Aammarpassuillu, released in 1998, which stayed at Number 1 on the Greenlandic charts for two months. Their follow-up live album Aammarlussuillu Live was released in 2001, and their second studio album Super Day followed in 2002. The band faced financial issues with their record label ULO Records, leading to an extended hiatus. Siissisoq reunited for shows in 2010 and continued performing sporadically. Their compilation album Black Box, featuring live tracks and new recordings of older songs, was released in 2018. The band's subsequent releases include Nilliaannarit (2021), Q (2023) and a compilation reissue of Superday (2023).
