Sebastiano “Sebi” Tramontana (born 12 December 1960 in Rosolini) is an Italian trombonist specialized in avant-garde jazz and free improvisation. He began his musical path on guitar as a child, transitioned to soprano saxophone in the late 1970s, and adopted the trombone by 1982. After moving to Rome to study at the A. Casella Conservatorio, he established his career through collaborations with Bruno Tommaso and Giancarlo Schiaffini. He gained recognition as a member of the New Talents Orchestra and the Italian Instabile Orchestra, which he joined in 1990. His discography includes the EP Il Giorno del Santo (1992), the duo recording Schz! (1998) with Georg Graewe, and the solo release Unfolding to Be You (2020). Throughout his career, he maintained significant collaborations with Joëlle Léandre, Mats Gustafsson, and Jeb Bishop. Additionally, he is active as a painter and actor, appearing in the film Under My Skin (2004).
