Goatsnake is an American stoner and doom metal band formed in Los Angeles, California. The group emerged in 1996 from the dissolution of The Obsessed, with an initial lineup consisting of guitarist Greg Anderson, bassist Guy Pinhas, drummer Greg Rogers, and vocalist Pete Stahl. They first gained attention with two 7-inch EPs, IV and Man of Light, released in 1998, followed by their debut studio album, Goatsnake Vol. 1, in 1999 on Man's Ruin Records and Rise Above Records. Their subsequent releases include Flower of Disease (2000), a split album with Burning Witch, and the EP Dog Days (2000). After disbanding in 2001, the group reformed in 2004, releasing the EP Trampled Under Hoof and the compilation 1 + Dog Days. They returned to the stage on April 15, 2010, to headline the Roadburn Festival, and released their third studio album, Black Age Blues, in 2015 on Southern Lord Records.
