Brainstorm was a German rock band from Baden-Baden. The group was formed in 1968 as Fashion Pink by Roland Schaeffer, Eddy von Overheidt, Rainer Bodensohn, Joachim Koinzer, Helmut Rusch, and Jürgen Argast. After Rusch and Argast left the band, it was renamed Brainstorm in 1972. The band's repertoire spanned progressive rock to experimental jazz rock, often described as a blend of Frank Zappa and the Canterbury Sound. Their debut album Smile a While was released in 1972, followed by Second Smile (1973). Brainstorm gained significant recognition through numerous live performances, radio, and television appearances across Germany. The band disbanded in 1975. Archival releases included the concert recordings Last Smile (1974) and Bremen 1973 (2002).
