Marcel Ponseele is a Belgian baroque oboist and instrument maker. He won a prize for excellence in oboe in 1977 at the Bruges Municipal Conservatory and continued his studies at the conservatories of Ghent and Brussels. He later specialized in the baroque oboe, moving away from the modern instrument, and received an honorable mention at the Musica Antiqua Bruges competition in 1980. He built an international career as a soloist, performing with leading early music ensembles such as the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and La Petite Bande, and co-founded the ensemble Il Gardellino in 1988. Ponseele also worked as an instrument maker alongside his brother Francis. His recordings include baroque repertoire such as works by Bach, Handel, Telemann, and others, performed both as a soloist and with Il Gardellino. In 2025, he was awarded the Bach Medal by the City of Leipzig.
