Isildurs Bane, a Swedish progressive rock group formed in 1976 in Halmstad, emerged from the band Amsaga. The group initially blended symphonic progressive rock with jazz-rock elements and featured electric and acoustic instruments alongside Swedish vocals. Their early albums included Sagan Om Den Irländska Älgen (1984) and Sea Reflections (1985). A significant shift occurred in 1989 with the release of Cheval-Volonté De Rocher, which marked a transition to largely instrumental compositions influenced by contemporary classical music. The MIND project, beginning in 1997, showcased the band's evolution into an electronic chamber orchestra, featuring albums like MIND Vol. 1 and MIND Vol. 2: Live. Notable collaborations include Colours Not Found in Nature with Steve Hogarth of Marillion in 2017, In Amazonia with Peter Hammill of Van der Graaf Generator in 2019, and The Pearl of Ever Changing Shell with Jinian Wilde in 2024.
