Angel Joy Blue, also known as Angel Blue, was born on May 3, 1984, in Los Angeles, California, and is an American soprano whose early training at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and later degrees from the University of Redlands and UCLA laid the foundation for a career that bridged classical and contemporary repertoire. Her breakthrough came with her debut as Clara in Porgy and Bess with the San Francisco Opera in the 2008-2009 season, followed by a highly regarded performance of the same role at the Metropolitan Opera in 2020, earning her the Grammy Award for Best Opera Recording at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. Her stage work spans major houses such as La Scala, the Royal Opera House, and the Vienna State Opera, where she has portrayed Violetta, Micaëla, and Giulietta. Her career is marked by accolades including the Operalia finalist honors in 2009, the Richard Tucker Award in 2022, and the Beverly Sills Award from the Metropolitan Opera in 2020. In May 2025, she sang the national anthem accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra at the 2025 National Memorial Day Concert.
