Pyotr Nikolayevich Mamonov (Пётр Никола́евич Мамо́нов), born on April 14, 1951, was a Russian rock musician and actor. He began his musical career with the cover band Express in the mid-to-late 1960s and in 1982 formed Zvuki Mu, gaining international recognition through collaborations, including work with Brian Eno in the late 1980s. After the band disbanded in 1996, Mamonov continued his solo music career and acting, appearing in films such as Taxi Blues (1990), The Island (2006), which earned him a Best Actor Nika Award, and Tsar (2009). In 2015, he formed a new band, Sovershenno novye Zvuki Mu. Mamonov passed away on July 15, 2021, at the age of 70 from complications of COVID-19.
