Wurzel 5, a Swiss hip hop group from Bern's Obstberg district, was formed in 1997 by friends and former schoolmates, namely rappers Tiersch, Diens, Serej, producer DJ Link, and manager Balduin "Bloodyfinga" Minder. Their first single "Schii$träcks..." was released in 2000, followed by their debut album Jugendsündä in 2001, one of the earliest Bernese German rap albums. The group gained recognition with subsequent releases such as Verdächtig... (2003) and Teamgeist (2006), which peaked at number 5 on the Swiss charts. Their fourth album, Letschti Rundi, was released in June 2009. After a hiatus of over seven years, Wurzel 5 performed at the first Meisterfeier since 32 years of the BSC Young Boys in May 2018.
