West Java Syndicate is an Indonesian ethnic-fusion music group founded in 2010 in Bandung, Indonesia. The project was initiated by drummer Zahar Mustilaq, who then teamed up with bassist Dede SP and later invited keyboardist YD Nafis, with the aim of blending traditional Sundanese music with modern styles such as jazz, blues, and rock. Their first public performance occurred at the monthly jazz event Sunday Jazz at Potluck in Bandung. In 2013, they released their debut EP Albeum Leutik, featuring a mix of traditional and contemporary instruments. Their first full-length album, Bubuka, was released in 2017, further establishing the group’s approach to fusing Sundanese traditions with contemporary music.
