Fariha Pervez is a Pakistani pop, classical, folk, and ghazal singer-songwriter born in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan, on February 2, 1970. She began her artistic career in the early 1990s, anchoring and acting on Pakistan Television and co-hosting the children's music program Aangan Aangan Taray. She appeared in several drama serials, including Ainak Wala Jin and Sophia. In 1995, Pervez joined Master Feroze Gill for classical music training, transitioning to a full-time music career. She released her debut studio album, Nice & Naughty, in 1996. Its track “Patang Baaz Sajna” became an instant hit and propelled her to national prominence. Throughout her career, she has released seven studio albums. Her sixth album, Passion, was released through the label Sadaf Stereo in 2005, containing her thumri “Yaad Piya Ki Aaye”, which won the Best Ballad award at the first edition of The Musik Awards in 2006. In 2010, she followed with her seventh album, Abhi Abhi, also on Sadaf Stereo. Pervez has also recorded playback songs for several films, including Chief Sahib (1996), Ghunghat (1996), and Inteha (1999), and frequently performed traditional compositions on the PTV musical series Virsa.
