Daniel Behrens, known professionally as Danimal Cannon, is an American video game composer and chiptune music performer from Buffalo, New York. Born on March 11, 1983, Behrens became known for combining guitar playing with Game Boy music. He made his recording debut with the studio album The Power Cosmic in 2011, which was followed by Roots in 2012, Parallel Processing with Zef in 2013, and Halid in 2016. Behrens also composed game soundtracks, including Cursor Curse in 2013, and his recordings were licensed for video games such as 8BitMMO, Wave Wave, and Just Shapes & Beats. Additionally, he presented panels at the Penny Arcade Expo, delivered a TEDx Talk, hosted YouTube tutorials, and conducted a Game Boy masterclass workshop at the Blip Festival in 2012. Behrens also performed video game music remixes as a member of the bands Armcannon and Metroid Metal, including the remix track “Strike The Earth!” from the game Shovel Knight in 2020.
