Anti-Mortem, an American Southern rock/heavy metal band from Chickasha, Oklahoma, was formed in 2008 by singer Larado Romo. The group initially included Romo's brother Nevada on guitar, bassist Zain Smith, and drummer Mitchell Henderson. Anti-Mortem began their career using a barn as a rehearsal space and recorded several demos before embarking on over 300 concerts supporting acts like Anthrax and Five Finger Death Punch. In February 2013, the band signed with Nuclear Blast Entertainment and released their debut album New Southern in 2014. Produced by Bob Marlette, the album featured notable songs such as "Stagnant Water" and "100% Pure American Rage." Anti-Mortem also toured in North America supporting Holy Grail and Monster Magnet. New Southern was nominated for "Best Debut Album" at the Metal Hammer Awards 2014. Despite their success, Anti-Mortem disbanded in October 2014 following bassist Corey Henderson's departure due to family reasons and the Romo brothers' decision to explore other creative directions.
