After drawing some attention with their self titled debut album and gnawing their ways into the ears of rockfans all over the place with their 2nd „Act Like Nothing Is Wrong“ in 2019, THE TEMPER TREE are back with their third album. Throughout "This was only your best/worst day yet" they stick to what the band does best: rocking riffs meet danceable popbeats, contemplative lyrics meet catchy melodies – only this time leaning a lot more towards rock than before and leaving all electronical influences behind. Considering the history of the band members it´s a step back
to the roots, DAVID BECKER (vocals and guitar) and MATTHIAS HEINZ (guitar) being the masterminds of metal act Thorn.Eleven in the early 2000s and KAI BERGERIN (drums and percussion) being the former drummer of german death metal heroes Disbelief. After mainly using synth-basses on their first album, the band meanwhile added a real bass to their sound and with their new bass player MIK BARON they didn´t only get a fat bass foundation, but added a high dosis of coolness to the team, too.
On „This was only the best/worst day of your life yet“ the band celebrates what every band tries to achieve, but only a few manage to do: finding their own sound and independence that makes them recognisable and distinguishable. Completely on purpose and against the common trends the temper tree aimed for an natural, organic sound, without losing any power or energy. And they haven´t only grown in musical terms – their attitude has ripened, too: In these times you simply cannot be apolitical anymore, says the band. You can´t just ignore what´s happening around the world and close your eyes to al the injustice and all the crime that is going on worldwide. You have to speak up against demonic and toxic types of men, to the loudest in the room, to fight your daily frustration and muster up the courage to not succumb to all the bad that is going on right now. As connective tissue between the nine songs on „This was only the best/Worst day of your life yet“ the listener encounters several atmospheric interludes that express the craziness of today´s world. The message of the lyrics and interludes is clear: not every day can be a good
one, but all bad times will be followed by good ones eventually...
