Avernal is an Argentine death and roll and heavy metal band from Quilmes. Formed in 1993, the ensemble consists of vocalist Cristian Rodríguez, musicians Federico Ramos, Germán Rodríguez, Tulio Navia and Gonzalo Varela. During its career, the group’s musical style evolved from death metal on its eponymous debut studio album (1997) to include rock elements on the recordings No Hope (2001) and III (2004). The ensemble’s recording history also featured the studio albums El Sangriento (2006) and Miss Mesias (2009). From 2016, the group returned to a death metal sound on the studio recording La Quimera de la Perfección. Their later recording history included the studio albums Tzompantli (2020) and Ekpyrosis (2025). The band has performed on tours across Latin America and Europe and shared the stage with international acts including Entombed, Mötley Crüe, Meshuggah and Pestilence.
