Sugarplum Fairy is a Swedish pop‑rock group formed in Borlänge, Sweden, in 2004. The band, composed of members Victor Norén, Carl Norén, David Hebert, Kristian Gidlund, and Jonas Karlsson, drew early inspiration from classic rock acts such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Clash, and Oasis. Their debut EP, Stay Young (2004), was followed by the single "Sweet Jackie" (2005), which marked their first chart entry in Sweden. In 2006 the group released their first full‑length album, First Round, First Minute, featuring the double A‑side single "She" / "Last Chance", and embarked on tours across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, supported by the label Nice Boy Music. The 2008 album The Wild One introduced singles such as "Never Thought I’d Say That It’s Alright" and a cover of "Bus Stop", accompanied by music videos shot in Berlin and Addis Abeba. In March 2009, the single "You Can’t Kill Rock’n’Roll" was issued, and the band completed a Scandinavian tour with Sahara Hotnights. The group ceased activity following the death of drummer Kristian Gidlund on 17 September 2013 due to gastric cancer.
