Die Modern-Rock-Band Pistols At Dawn kommt aus Atlanta, Georgia. Der Schlagzeuger Adam Jaffe, der Gitarrist Devin White und der Gitarrist Mike Buffa gründeten die Band im Jahr 2015 und begaben sich schnell ins Aufnahmestudio, wo sie mit dem Produzenten Jeff Tomei mehrere Songs aufnahmen. Trotz des Schwungs wurde die Gruppe schnell wieder inaktiv, da sich die Mitglieder auf andere Projekte konzentrierten. Als Buffa 2018 unerwartet verstarb, fanden sich Pistols At Dawn ihm zu Ehren wieder zusammen, diesmal mit einer größeren Besetzung, zu der auch Bassist Sean Benham, Gitarrist Will James und Frontmann Cris Hodges gehörten. Das selbstbetitelte Debütalbum Pistols At Dawn wurde 2019 veröffentlicht und enthält sieben Tracks, in denen sich übersteuerte Gitarren mit gefühlvollen Melodien vermischen. Die Singles"Cold" und"Gauntlet" erfreuten sich auf digitalen Streaming-Plattformen großer Beliebtheit, und die Band veröffentlichte im darauffolgenden Jahr die Non-Album-Single"All You Offer". Eine Folge-EP, Nocturnal Youth, folgte 2021 mit den Singles"Voices" und"Crown" Nachdem sie mit Tomei an ihrem ersten Material gearbeitet hatten, beauftragten die Bandmitglieder die Produzentin Sylvia Massy mit der Produktion ihres zweiten Albums, Ascension. Das Album wurde 2022 veröffentlicht und brachte zwei Top-40-Singles in den Mainstream-Rock-Charts von Billboard hervor: "The Truth" erreichte Platz 33 und"Under the Surface" landete auf Platz 40.
