Dazibao were a French post-punk group formed in late 1982 in Paris, France, by vocalist Jamil Saiarh, synthesizer player Pierre Biss, bassist Jean Zundel, and drummer Paul Dufayet de la Tour. Following their debut single on Mr. Vinyl Records, guitarist Lucas Zabojnik joined the ensemble, steering their sound toward a post-punk style influenced by Joy Division and The Gun Club. Dazibao released their debut studio album, Les Musiques de la honte, in 1987 on V.I.S.A., followed by Amok in 1988 on V.I.S.A. and Shems/Soleil in 1991 on Bondage/Zelig. The group toured across France, Germany, Yugoslavia, Italy, Belgium, and Canada, opening for acts including The Fall. Dazibao disbanded in 1993, and their complete discography was compiled in the 2010 box set Complete Works 1983-1993.
